From the beginning, the story is told from 2 different points of view. On the Ghorn side, Jim Daly is responsible for the pencils. From the perspective of the Tullosar Alliance, Erik Reeves provides the artwork. Eventually, the story lines begin to cross and merge, but the book remains split between the two artists. Moon 314 is home to a mining colony that has been unearthing Life Ore for several years. It is the last known source of ore in the universe. A trade agreement with the mining colony has provided the Ghorn with sufficient life ore to keep the planet alive, until now. The colony has reported that all remaining Life Ore has been extracted from Moon 314, and there will be no more shipments to Ghorniax. However, a cargo ship carrying Life Ore to an unknown destination has been discovered by Ghorniax intelligence, which poses troubling questions. Where was the ore going, and is there truly an end to the supply? Were the Ghorn lied to, and if so, why? The Ore is a matter of life and death to the Ghorn, and they will stop at nothing to obtain it. Unknown to the Ghorn, the colony is under the protection of the powerful Tullosar Alliance, the dominant peacekeeping force in the universe. While the Alliance maintains an image of good intentions, the politics behind the vast force are often nebulous. Is the Alliance behind the control of the Life Ore, or are they merely caught in the middle? This resulting battle between power and desperation will unlock secrets that could impact the entire universe.
The action heats up as semma and the Ghorn run headlong into Darrin and the Tullosar forces protecting the colony on moon 314. Also at the same time Tobor returns to the Ghorns home planet, Ghorniax, to plead with his Sister the Queen that the Ghorn people must be relocated to a more hospitable planet. Citing her conviction that the book of One states that the Ghorn shall be saved, she refuses. Tobor is forced to set his secret plan into motion.
